Ya' Know, Its ok.....
This restaurant is like the McDonald's of Chinese food. I cant say i have ever had a bad meal there but nothing memorable either. If you are looking for a Chinese restaurant for someone that doesn't really like Chinese food this is definitely the place. Its hard to warrant going to a place like this for dinner however for a quick lunch with co-workers, this is your best bet. I am not sure whether its the water in Cleveland that has dulled everyones taste buds or if we are just ready to settle for mundane food. The fact that people gave this 5 stars truly scares me. Put this place in the food court at a mall and it would be right at home!

Be wary of credit card theft at this location
We ordered carry out - my wife picked it up and paid with a card she had not used for 2-3 weeks prior. We received a call the next am from CheapTickets dot com asking if we really did want to pay for a ticket from Shanghei to Sydney for a Yu Credit card theft at Hunan Coventry. Food is average, theft is unbelieveable

Best in Cleveland
I love chinese food and when I moved here from Cleveland, I was missing great chinese for a long time, that is until I found out about Hunan Coventry. Place is incredible, pricing is very reasonable and portions are hugh. Don't miss out on this great food.

Terrible Chinese Food
I am an American born Chinese and have been eating American Chinese food my entire life. The food at Hunan Coventry was horrible. Your usual Chinese food basics like Cashew Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli, Hot and Sour Soup, and Potstickers were bland and tasteless. For the poor quality and the average amount the prices are exorbitant. Less than mediocre overall.

The plain truth....
OK.the area isn't the best, the service is sometimes good and sometimes bad. The atmosphere inside is ok. But if you want some of the best Chinese food in Cleveland this is the place to be. I grew up in New York and have yet to find anything locally that can come close to some of the food I have had there. This place is a pain for us to get to since we are in Brecksville, but the food makes it all worth while. We have been going for years, we just wish it was closer to us, or there was a place that came close to being as good to save us the drive time. Go now.go often.

This was better in the good old daze!
I have worked at several Asian restaurants. Hunan at Coventry is not a bad place. However, since working at Asian restaurants I can say the food is Americanized. The sauces are very similar in many dishes. I have specifically tasted A1 in several dishes and when I asked the server they were surprised that I had asked this. On several occasions the dishes were practically bathed in oil. This could be do the fact that some Chinese places flash fry the contents of the dishes and then stir fry them. This is a very flavor full way to cook the dishes but not very good for you. I can?t say for sure they do this but I witnessed this a few of the places that I worked. The service is ok depending on who you get. On one occasion I had the rude waiter that did not want to modify the dishes that I ordered. And when I wanted to return one of the dishes do the high quantity of oil that was floating in the dish they essentially acted like it was my fault. Bottom line there is a reason you do not see to many Asian people eating at this place. However this is a good American Chinese restaurant.

Come here if you want below average, unimpressive americanized Chinese food.
I can't believe this place is highly rated for chinese food in Cleveland. Very average and unauthentic chinese food. Trust me. I've had chinese food from most major cities. Maybe this is considered good by Cleveland standards. But overall, this stuff is very substandard. It's very Americanized Chinese food. Nothing authentic. Nothing impressive. For example, I ordered the sesame chicken dish. Basically all it is is deep fried chicken. Then they have this sauce on the side(which tastes like barbeque sauce) and then they throw some sesame seeds in it. and they try to pass it off as sesame chicken. Nice try. You can fool many patrons, but for people who have actually had really good authentic chinese food, they won't be coming back.

Beef with Snow Pea Pods by Thomas K. at InsiderPages
This place was absolutely awesome! The food was superb and the service was excellent. The beef was so juicy, tender, and succulent. The Snow Pea Pods were obviously fresh and oh so very tasty! The atmosphere was divine with just the right touch of class. It wasn't too pretentious yet it wasn't too simple or rustic either.
Tips are absolutely expected!!! At least 20%

Dont order the eggplant! by rebecca s. at InsiderPages
My husband loves this restaurant so we went there one night. I ordered the eggplant with rice. The eggplant was so overcooked that it was slimy and rubbery. The sauce had little to no flavor to it, and all they said was, oh sorry. I recieved no refund for my horrible meal. The decor is nice and it is somewhere between classy and casual. The prices are somewhat high also, atleast for what you get.
